What can I do to help?!
Direct Services Volunteers work directly with survivors on the phone or in person, providing support, information, advocacy, and referrals for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQQ) survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, hate crimes and discrimination.
Outreach/Education Volunteers help inform and educate the community about LGBTQQ issues of violence, and about SafeSpace and its mission, in a variety of ways. This could mean staffing a table at an event, helping to plan an event, going to another organization or event to give presentations about violence perpetrated against and within the LGBTQQ community, or helping distribute flyers about SafeSpace events.
Administrative Volunteers work on specific projects such as creating a lawyer referral list or updating the resource lists, as well as assist with tasks in the office such as answering phones, data entry, creating handouts and flyers, stuffing mailings, or helping to file documents.
Fundraising Volunteers help in a variety of ways, from holding and/or organizing benefit events, becoming a part of the Fundraising Committee, informing the community about events that SafeSpace is holding, or participating in events like the Annual Phone-a-thon, Raffle, etc.
